I also agree with Auggie about how he said the we should be remembered for the things we do. I think precept is just following your own rules or directions to do something you want to do. Figure out your own way to do something. Just be yourself when your doing anything.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don`t matter and those who matter don`t mind – Dr. Suess

I think some of this poem really connects to my definition of precept.

I really like this qoute! I think this qoute goes really well your definition of precept. Good job!

I really love this quote! Nice Job!

Auggie you go! I think Auggie’s precept definition is like it came right out of my mouth. Precept is like the definition of perseverance to me.

“You go after what your dream is until you catch it.”
-Ava Saykaly

I agree with Niha about that people should be remembered by the things they have done. My definition of precept is follow your heart, and to be yourself. For example, when my baby cousin, Alexandra. She always takes the harder route instead of the easy way out. She really reminds me of Auggie because Auggie follows his heart, and is determined.

I think Auggie is right about being who you are and knowing it. Auggie lives with his situation and tries not to care what people think about him. After all, ge is a very strong kid. He is definitely more brave than I am. He definitely knows that everyone is staring at him and whispering and tries to think nothing of it but he cares. I am really starting to think about other people’s feelings and IALAC signs while reading this book. It is definitely one of the best books I have ever read and am eager to read the rest of it!

“I think self-awareness is probably the most important thing towards being a champion.”
~Billie Jean King
This quote makes me think of Auggie because he is self-aware and is a champion.
“I’ve always wanted to be one of those people who doesn’t care what people think, but I guess I’m not.”
~Unknown
This quote is about both me and Auggie. He doesn’t care that much about what other people think, but I can tell that he cares at least a little bit.

Really cool quotes.Where did you find them?

Love these! I am glad that I gave helped people to go beyond there blogging and try to find something that will help them understand what it is talking about.
Quotes help me understand more about what the story is teaching me!

I agree with Auggie about what he thought precept meant. I also think it means try new things you never known you might like it. Just act how what to act don’t act how you think others want you to. I have really enjoyed reading the book.

“If I make a fool of myself, who cares? I’m not frightened by anyone’s perception of me.” -Unonymous

This made me think of Auggie because he doesn’t care how people stare or look at him. He was born that way.

I agree when Auggie said what he thought precept meant. I think of a precept as a life lesson or as a motto, something to help you live your life better. I cannot wait to finish reading this book!

I totally agree with what Auggie put in his paragraph about how your deeds are your monuments. Let people remember you as the type of person you are, not because you are trying to be a type of person you are pretending to be. Of course Auggie is going to be remembered as “the kid with the weird face”, but he doesn’t care. Auggie is so strong and has been through a lot. Also the precept helps me to remember to always try again and never ever give up. Live up to something that you really are determined to do, not just because you are worried about how people look at you. Think about Martin Luther King. He didn’t worry about what people said, and still changed the world. This precept also reminds me of the song “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Maraz. Auggie has never given up even when he didn’t want to do something. He kept his head up and kept walking.

I think August was right about preception and I agree with it. You should stand up for who you are and no one should tell you what to do. You should try something new. No one should tell you what to do.

Quotes:

“There is no truth. There is only perception.”
-Gustave Flaubert

I think August feels the same way because some people think of him as “weird” even though he wasn’t that bad after all.

I wonder what you feel your monuments are right now.

I 100% agree with what Auggie said. Your deeds are your monuments. I think that this means that your actions are the things that people remember. If somebody helps people consistently by doing deeds that they need help with, that person will be noticed by other people. Almost like a monument is noticed.

The September precept, “Your deeds are your monuments” means to me that if you do nice deeds for others I could possibly make an impact in somebody else’s life. I knew a woman named Banou who made an impact in my life before she passed away recently. She made an impact in my life by helping me with my deeds. She also made an impact many other people too. This is what this precept means to me.

I used to know someone like that too. I really liked what you said about “If you do nice deeds for others it could possibly make an impact on someone else’s life.” That made me think about a kid that might be bullied at school, or something is going on at home, that you could be friendly, and talk to them, and try to make them feel better. You never know who’s watching.

Auggie’s precept, “Your deeds are your monuments,” reminds us that what you do in life is how you will be remembered. We should not be remembered for how we look, what we wear, how we sing, play a sport, or wear our hair. Like Auggie, I would like to be remembered as a good person, of good character, and a good citizen.

“Character is who you are when no one is watching.”
– “My mom”

Auggie made a good point when he said,” Your deeds are your monuments.” This means that all the deeds in your life will represent you. A person should be remembered for their actions and not their appearances or for what they own. A person could be remembered for anything but it’s what they are remembered for that makes them stand out against others.

Auggie’s precept for the year is “your deeds are your monuments” i think that this means be careful of what u say and your actions because you dont know whos watching you. Auggir is having a hard time in school and he is not getting along with some of his class mates he is trying to make friends but he just cant because something is wrong with him you should accept people for whp they are and what they are.

I agree with Auggie. I think people should be remembered about what they do not what they look like. Auggie wishes he could be remembered by what he does and not he he looks like. He is so strong and brave. If people be themselves then others will really remember them for what they do. I think if more people really got to know Auggie like Summer did they would remember him not only for his face but for what he did.

I definitely agree of what Auggie thought the precept “Your Deeds are Your Monuments” mean. No one should be remembered on their face but on what they do. People say Auggie has a weird face but it shouldn’t matter you should say he is kind and brave. All these precept are acting similar to a motto and I always stick to a motto.

I agree with Auggie of what he thought preception” Your Deeds are Your Monuments” means. People are supposed to be remembered of what they do or did not what they look like on the outside. People think auggie is unordinary looking because of his face. It doesn’t about your appearance. Auggie takes chances and took the chance of going to school. That’s something that should be remembered.

I agree with Auggie. I think he was trying to say the deeds in your life will represent you no matter what you do. I think people shouldn’t judge Auggie because he’s different. I think that people shouldn’t be friend just because they feel bad for them.

I agree with Mr.Brown’s precept. I think he means that your deed are the world to you and they are very important. Auggie is a very brave person to be able to go to school with the problems that he has and doesn’t complain to anyone to stop talking about him. People think he isn’t ordinary because of his face. He still is a normal boy on the inside just like everyone else. He should be treated like a person with no problems should.

Auggie was saying that people need to be remembered for what they did in their lives, even if it is good or bad. If someone does something bad, like rob a bank, he or she should be remembered for that. If someone is helping the homeless, or always giving, he or she should be remembered for that. Auggie should be remembered because he knows that he doesn’t look like the other kids, but he still goes to school, and he still tries to interact with the kids in his class. He is very brave.
