I learned that no matter how hard you work on something it may not live up to someone elses expectations. You could spend years corecting and finalizing something, but someone else will always find something wrong with it. It is never good enough for everyone. I also learned that no matter how many times you work with certain people if you don’t work well with them you just don’t work well with them. There is no changing that. People just have different personalitys and you can’t change them. Only they can change them.

This year, I learned about team work. We did a hand-full of projects in Social Studies that required teamwork. The Roman expansion timeline really taught me haw to be part of a team.

This year, the blog helped me sit down and ask myself what I did today, and what I learned. The unit in social studies that talked about curiosity, helped me become more curious.

This year I have learned about curiosity, courage and failure. If you make yourself curious about a subject you will want to learn more and learn more information instead of just tying to memorize the subject. If you have courage you can achieve your goals with more confidence. Always know you can achieve your hardest goals. Think of failure as a lesson. Failure teaches you what you did wrong so you wont make the same mistakes. Everybody fails once in a while. Learn from your mistakes.

I agree failure is the best lesson of all. Once you fail on a subject you will never forget it again.

I learned about courage, failure and curiosity while doing tech yes projects too.

I have grown in many ways this year. I have learned many new things about my friends, countries and places in the world, and MANY more! With failure, I have learned to not let it stop me. When I do fail or do something wrong I dont give up, I keep trying. In Social Studies, we have done many projects to teach us about team work and other characteristics we should have. The amount of projects we have done in “teams” have taught me to work well with others, listen to new ideas, and that there are no dumb ideas or questions. I think sixth grade has been a real huge learning year. Our most recent project in Social Studies, about the Romans, is one of the projects that has taught me the most. As I said before, I learned to listen to new ideas from other people, not turn down anyone’s ideas, and how to work well with others while in a group. We all wanted to understand the chapter well and get a good grade, so we pulled together as a team, and I think we did amzing! It helped me to learn the most because I realized how important team work was. Another project that helped me learn about working well with others was my tech yes projects. With both the SS one and the science one, I had to have people to do my experiment. I learned to get something done efficiently and quick, you cant goof off too much, and you have to stay focused.

This year, I have grown far beyond of how much I thought I would develop. My curiosity and persavearence levels have grown to an extent where I never thought they would be. At the beginning of the year, my anxiety about grades was bringing me down. Mrs. Cooper taught me to not be so tough on myself when receiving a bad grade. I have also learned to be self motivated.
Although I have grown this year, I have also lost something that I will need dearly. That is responsibilty. I think I was more responsible last year in fifthe grade. I plan to be more responsible next year because I will need it because of the large campus and all of he different classes.
The Roman Daily Life project that we just finished taught me the most. It taught me that I can be a leader and a follower. It laso taught me and my group to go “out of the box’ when thinking about props and the script. The project tought me that imagination is key. This specific project taught me the most because there were many diffrerent stages in it. After considering about what I have gained and lost this year, I think I have grown a little this year!

This year I have grown more than I thaught I would. I have improved on curiosity and imagination mainly. For imagination, I try to get the image of ancient countries in my head. I have learned that you learn from your failures. It happens to everyone. If you get a bad grade, learn from your mistakes. The project I have learned the most from this year is the Roman Daily Life project. I now know how a rich and a poor family lived in ancient Rome. I learned from the project that teamwork is important. You can’t always have your own way. You have to make a compromise. There also has to be a leader. Sixth grade has taught me to be responsible.

I feel that I have grown this year. Yes, I have physically grown about 3 and 1 half inches but to me there is more meaning to the question. I have grown in many other ways. I have matured more than the year before and have been getting better grades than any year before. Yes, I have grown this year.
This year I have learned many things about failure. It was the first year I ever got an F on an assignment, but still I have received better grades than ever before. I have learned that you just have to get up brush off your shoulders and keep moving after failure. Failure is a big obstacle, but life is the biggest obstacle of all.
Many projects made me learn many things, but I don’t believe any one project sticks out. I believe I learned the most this year over any year. I believe we learned the most in Social Studies. My favorite lesson was when we learned about Crete. Everyone had such a good time. It was so fun because we would talk about these amazing ancient people, and then whenever we had a question we would just look it up on our Ipads. That was my favorite lesson of the year by far.

The project’s that help you learn most were group project’s because if you had trouble or didn’t know the answer, you’d have someone else to help you. Tech Yes teaches us how to use better sources on the internet and use books. Failure is never forever because you learn from every one. When giving our class so many examples of imagination and curiosity throughout each lesson, we will learn to use them more often in all our classes.

This year in social studies I have leaned that you learn from your mistakes. Also the bigger questions come from dumd questions, and dumb ideas bring in brighter ideas. When we learn about something boreing its harder for me to consintrate on the subject that is why it is hard for me to focus sometimes. Imagination is key to learning, because if you dont ask what if, how come, why, and ex.. If you do not ask those quesyions you are not learning. When you are curious you want to learn more intsead of trying to memorize the text. If you have no courage you can not achieve your goals, and if you cant achieve your goals you will be mad.

I learned a lot in social studies this year. The last project we did about Roman daily life helped me learn that sometimes it isn’t easy working in a group. I learned that you have to accept it when other people aren’t as serous about the project as you are. You can’t make someone do something they don’t want to do. I also learned that we can’t all work on one thing so we have to split up to get more things accomplished.
The SS tech yes project also helped me learn. I learned that if it gets difficult you cannot just give up or change your project. You must persevere. I also learned from watching other people on the last day try to get there video done that you have to plan and not procrastinate .I learned that you should not be afraid to try a new program because you will be able to figure it out.
I have also learned to have much more imagination and curiosity .Curiosity helps me become more interested in what we are studying. Imagination makes my projects much more interesting.

I agree, Maddy, that imagination makes projects more interesting. It helps to be creative and be insightful. It also helps to have an open mind.

This year has been a great learning experience, so I think that I have grown as a person. Out of the four learning aspects, the one that most affected me this year is curiosity. This year I learned that curiosity is very important, and i tried to take that into account in my life. If we didn’t have curiosity, we wouldn’t have many important inventions in our life… think about it! If Benjamin Franklin wasn’t curious, we wouldn’t have bifocals, or the Franklin stove. If Alexander Graham Bell, or even Thomas Edison weren’t curious, we would not have phones, or light bulbs. The one that impacted me least was perseverance, because when something goes wrong, even though I will try my hardest, and will do it many times, I am prone to give up after a few tries. I have learned the most about failure, though. Take this group project on the ” Map of time” as an example. We didn’t do very good, because we didn’t have good teamwork, and we weren’t prepared very well. A little bit was because the show choir was missing for a couple of days, but most of it was our fault. About failure, I have learned that if you don’t want to fail, then you have to show that you care, and that you want to get e good grade. If you are an active learner, you will receive it.

I have learned so many things throughout my 6th grade year! I have become more mature and responsible then I have ever been. Curiosity has had a large impact on my life this year. I am now curious about everything I play, do, and even eat! For example, why is the sky blue or why do clouds float in the sky! Without it, the world wouldn’t be where it is now. We would’ve never had the Iphone or any computers. I found out that I work well in groups, but not in large groups. In the middle of the year when we had to do a Phoenician project, my group didn’t argue, we took everybody’s suggestions and most important, we had FUN! I learn better with hands on things like projects, or experiments. My favorite thing out of everything in 6th grade is Open Mike. I get to express my feelings though a character and write about anything I want to. It is my favorite class. Out of all my years at Woodward North, 6th grade has had the largest impact on my life!:)

How have you grown this year? Please consider the habits of Imagination, Curiosity, Perseverance, and Courage. What have you learned about “failure”? What projects or lessons allowed you to learn the most? Why??

This year I have grown quite a bunch! When I first started 6th grade, I thought that it was going to be hard and that I was going to make bad grades since I was in main stream!! Well I’ve done a marvelous job not being in transition! I have a bigger imagination then what I had before and I had a trendous amount of imagination when I was younger. Curiosity has grown on me too because I ask so many questions about everything and anything I don’t understand or that I think is silly. Courage has made me realize that it is very important to have and to never give up and to always try my hardest no matter what I’m going though at the time!!
Failure has taught me many things! It’s ok to not get everything right! It’s good to miss things because you learn from your mistakes! Mistakes are a great learning tool but you still try your hardest to understand and get things right!! Many people think that mistakes are bad and everything has to be perfect! That’s not true at all because I think mistakes are great to learn from!
Tech yes projects really helped me because I’ve learned about how to ge things done in an organized way and not to give up no matter how hard it is! So tech yes projects are great projects to learn from! It helps you think more about what you’re doing!

I have grown this year by having more of Curiosity, Imagination, and Perseverance while I am learning. I have grown more curios throughout the year in our social studies lessons and assignments. I have used a lot of imagination in our TechYes projects and group assignments. I have learned to preserver this year in all of my subjects and especially in Social Studies doing an TechYes project and failing keep on doing it.

I want to add on to what I was saying before.
Imagination, Curiosity, Perseverance, and Courage. These are what I think of when I see these four words.
Imagination- I have learned to imagine so much more, have more of an open mind on school work or anything else.
Curiosity- I have learned to be more curious in my work, projects, etc. Curiosity is essential to a happy, easy life! 🙂
Perserverance- Dont Give Up!! Keep trying!! Dont let things dtop you or get in your way. Perservere.
Courage- Have the courage to do what you believe in. Have the courage to stop what is wrong, and continue what you know is right.

I’ve learned in this years social studies class that note taking is not one of my best friends. I used perseverance to finish them. I have also learned that using you imagination is key to learning. This can help you think outside of the box and saying “If ____ didn’t do these actions, how would _____act,” just like making inferences in reading. You can also use curiosity to ask questions. Our class used curiosity to ask questions about boring old rocks. But when you come up with these questions, you become more curious on what you learning about. I’ve learned this in a very different way that I’ve never used before. Having courage is also key to learning. Courage is somewhat like perseverance. Having courage is to motivate yourself to do what you would either want to do or not want to do. I’ve also learned from failure. When you make a mistake, learn from that mistake and try again. In Tech YES, I’ve observed other peoples hypothesis’, and some of them were incorrect. If we had another chance to test again, I believe they these people would change their hypothesis. The lessons that I learn the most in are group projects. I think this because if you are in a group, then you can collaborate you ideas and learn more.
